Issue a Challenge
Department admins can pick one or more opponent departments (or stations within your own department). Challenges run for one calendar month and use a combined score across five fitness metrics.
Accept or Decline
Challenged departments receive a notification. Their admin can accept or decline. A challenge becomes active once at least one opponent accepts.
Compete & Win
Your combined score updates in real time across all five metrics. At the end of the month the department with the highest score wins bragging rights and a winner badge on the display board.
Challenges use a single Combined Score (0–100 pts) that blends five fitness metrics. Each metric is normalized to a 0–100 scale and then weighted to produce the final score. Scoring automatically adjusts for department size differences so smaller and larger departments compete on a level playing field.
Participation — 30%
Percentage of members who log at least one workout during the challenge month. Getting everyone involved is the biggest factor.
Avg Hours / Member — 25%
Total workout hours divided by department size, normalized against a 20-hour cap. Rewards consistent time commitment.
Sessions / Member — 20%
Total sessions divided by department size, normalized against a 20-session cap. Measures workout frequency fairly across department sizes.
Avg Best Streak — 15%
Average of each member's longest consecutive-day workout streak, normalized against 14 days. Rewards daily consistency.
Active Member Count — 10%
Number of members who logged at least one session, normalized against a cap of 20. Rewards departments that get more people moving.
Each component is scaled 0–100 before weighting. Per-member metrics use a size-adjusted floor based on the largest department in the challenge, and departments with fewer than 3 active members receive a graduated score reduction.
- Challenges run for one full calendar month (1st through last day).
- Only department admins can issue or accept challenges.
- A department can issue a challenge to one or multiple opponents at the same time.
- Stations within the same department can challenge each other (admin toggles station mode).
- A challenge becomes active once at least one opponent accepts. Declining is always an option.
- The combined score is calculated in real time from actual workout data across five metrics — no manual entry.
- The winner is determined at the end of the month. Ties go to the department that reached the score first.
- Each department can only have one active inter-department challenge per month.
- Completed challenges are archived in the history table for bragging rights.
